From the 3rd to the 7th of December 35 people from across the Ukraine gathered for the Mildmay International/Samaritans Purse ‘Basic information on HIV/AIDS’ training, just outside Kiev.

Like in other countries in the region HIV has been spreading in the Ukraine. Many of those living with HIV are current or former drug users. All delegates attending the training are working with addicts and many are HIV positive themselves.

The concept for the training was developed by ISAAC and implemented by ACRCA; an ISAAC-affiliated network of almost 100 Christian leaders in Ukraine. Mildmay International; an international HIV+AIDS charity, delivered the training. The event was sponsored by Geneva Global, First Fruit, Samaritans Purse, as well our own ISAAC supporters.

Topics covered during the 4 day training included treatment for HIV, spiritual and pastoral care and preventing HIV and TB transmission in the care setting.
