Wabern, Germany, was the setting for the first meeting between ISAAC and ACL, the German network of Christians working in the addictions field. Kerstin Eriksson (Sweden), Frans Koopmans (The Netherlands) and Dave Partington of ISAAC met with the board members of ACL in order to develop relationships for future co-operation between the two organisations. ACL has over 30 member organisations involved in rehab, street agencies and psychiatric services to people with addiction related problems.

In addition to sharing about the work of the two organisations preliminary discussions took place concerning the possibility of a joint European conference. Two of the key topics agreed for such a conference were agreed as:

   • Working as Christians in a 'harm minimisation' culture.

   • Developing alternative funding sources.

The highlight of the day was a meeting of hearts and minds around the shared desire to see Jesus honoured and the members of both networks blessed and encouraged.
