ISAAC Members Map ISAAC UK Leaders Meeting

Following the recent meetings in Oxford and Leeds of Christians involved in addiction work a representative leadership met to consider how the UK network might be further revitalised. The meeting was reminded of how the UK network was the forerunner of ISAAC International and agreed that the name ‘ISAAC UK’ should be used in future for the network. Other discussions centred around working on a UK directory of projects/services, setting up a prayer support system and the validity of a UK national conference sometime in the future. The wider international scene was highlighted by ISAAC Members sharing about their work in Siberia and the very successful Ukraine Association of Christian Rehab Centres.

Finally the leaders finalised plans for workshops in November in Leeds and Reading under the title of, ‘The Power of Joy over Addiction’ and conducted by Ed Khouri from the USA. The workshops will focus on helping participants both learn and experience the power of joy in recovery. They will also help participants understand why recovery must be joyful – and to go through exercises that teach joy and relationship skills. These exercises are being used in new ‘Thriving: Recover Your Life’ recovery programme, and help teach essential brain skills that are foundational for recovery. Place keep a check on the ISAAC website for details.
